The People

This is Paul. He is cycling across the US. I didn't get to have a decent conversation with him (we were in a hurry) or snap a good picture.

Ranger George Weaklim, who regaled us with stories of  campers who'd lost their faces to bears in search of cherry chapstick. Ranger George is ex-military, ex-corporate business trainer, and says he is a park ranger because being in the wilderness brings him closer to God. He was spectacularly nice and talked with me at length about how much he loved being a ranger.

Dr. Frazier-- though it may not count, I only met Dr. Frazier on this trip. I'll be taking a few classes with him in the future, so it was good to get to know him now. I spent a good deal of time talking with him (learning from him) about coloration and grain size in sedimentary rocks. He is also very good natured, as you can probably tell from his tinfoil fedora.
